About Stone in Focus

Welcome to Stone in Focus: a home for experimental music, etc. Based out of Toronto, Canada, this is a little project that I decided to start in my spare time, mainly as a means of cataloguing and keeping track of the sometimes overwhelming amount of new music I tend to discover on a regular basis. if I can connect people with some awesome new sounds and help get the word out about some lesser known artists along the way, then that is a welcome bonus.

While this will primarily be a hub for experimental music, the term is used loosely, and will merely be a taking off point for what we will cover here, as opposed to a limiting factor. Expect anything from ambient, drone and electronic, to metal, noise, punk, and whatever else feels right. Simply put, if I like it, I will write about it. While this is all admittedly still very new, and I am still figuring out what works as we go, expect anything from reviews, to feature articles, to mixes and podcasts and interviews in the near future.

I will try to keep things as current as possible, and will make a strong point of focusing on artists that might not get as much attention or coverage as some of the bigger names. If you feel like your music might be a good fit, and you have a recent album that you'd like me to check out and possibly review, feel free to send anything submissions over to ryan@stoneinfocus.net and I will do my best to get around to listening as soon as possible.

I promise to do my best to keep you all regularly supplied with the best music I know of, with some equal parts meaningful/ridiculous reflections thrown in there for good measure.

Thanks for giving me a chance. More importantly, thanks for giving good music a chance.

Your music buddy,

Ryan
